Welcome to Mrs. Showalter's World of First Grade!
First Graders...Reading is a Picnic!
Welcome to the First Grade Web page!! This year in first grade, your child will be learning so many new things that it will be hard to keep up with them all.
First Graders will be working independently in centers, working in large group situations, collaborating with older students to complete projects together, inviting guest speakers to share with us, taking field trips to enhance our instructional units and many, many more activities.
Parents can check our web page to see "what's happening" and "what's new" in our class this year. So grab your hat and away we go!
Be sure to check the other links for more information!

What's Happening This Week?
The weeks of December 3-21 we will be learning about many of the traditions that are part of Christmas. We will compare and contrast Christmas today and Christmas in the past. We will also look at Christmas traditions in other parts of the world!
Our room is filled with Christmas crafts and activities. We will be making graham cracker Rudolph cookies as well as traditional Christmas cookies!
On Wednesday, December 19, the sixth grade will help us create our annual gingerbread houses. Watch for more information about this activity!
Our school Christmas program will be on Tuesday, December 18. There will be lots of singing and entertainment for all!!
