Homework Information
Homework in first grade will usually be limited to two days a week. On Tuesday there will be math homework and on Thursday each child must complete a Reading Log based on a book they have read. You have already received an explanation of the format of the Reading Logs.
Please make sure your child has his/her homework to return to school the following day!
"Sparkling Stickers" are worn by everyone that returns their homework!!
Reading Log Information
Reading Logs are designed to give your child an opportunity to learn to identify the main idea of a story. It is very important that your child does all the writing on his/her log so that the "ownership" of that log belongs to the child and not the parent.
Points are awarded for the following information:
2 Points for the title...2 Points for the author...2 points for the text and 2 points for the illustration...totalling 8 points. Each child can earn 8 points each week! Points will be deducted if any of the parts are left out or if parents write on the log!!
